Michael Jackson United We Stand RFK
A quarter century back, Michael Jackson put together a benefit called United We Stand at RFK stadium in Washington, D.C., only weeks after September 11th, with the country still raw. He wrote What More Can I Give for the victims and sang it live to shut the night down, flanked by Mariah Carey, Usher, *NSYNC and a long list of others. The jacket was silver with an eagle on it, because of course it was. When he spoke, he asked the crowd to meet each other's eyes, take hands, and aim upward. To the families who had lost someone, he said: "You are not alone. You are in our hearts, you are in our thoughts and you are in our prayers."
