Anderson Cooper's question to Dario Amodei was blunt: "Who elected you and Sam Altman?" The reply came back just as plain: "No one. No one. Honestly, no one." That exchange sits behind the number that actually matters here. Amodei had already floated the possibility that AI takes out roughly half of entry-level white-collar positions, and now Anthropic has a Public Benefit Fund attached to it. Starting slice is 5% of company equity. Each time valuation climbs 50%, another 2% goes in. Stack those up and about 20% of Anthropic is now marked for public benefit. So the person raising the job-loss alarm is also carving out a fifth of the company for the people who could get hit by it.
