Master and Commander 2003

by Capucine · old hollywood: Peter Weir

What keeps pulling me back to MASTER AND COMMANDER (2003) is how completely Peter Weir fills the HMS Surprise with texture. Timber groans underfoot, guns thunder, and then Russell Crowe and Paul Bettany pick up violin and cello for a duet. It all adds up to a ship that feels genuinely inhabited, and that's why the film holds up on repeat viewings.
