Chris Algieri on beating Sebastian Fundora
by Yamanaka: Sebastian Fundora
Chris Algieri got asked how you'd actually go about beating a guy like Sebastian Fundora, and his answer is basically that the blueprint only works in theory. Stay way outside so the taller man has to reach, make him pay for it, then close the gap fast and trade short punches on the inside. Never linger at middle distance. Sounds clean until you picture doing it against a 6'6" Fundora, which he calls an entirely different thing. His read after Fundora beat Ermal Hadribeaj is that the height, the reach and the style just pile up problems for whoever's across the ring. So how would you try to solve it? #SebastianFundora

I got asked over the weekend, man, how do you beat someone like this? And I prefaced it like this. I go, outside looking in, you can say anything in the world. Ah, you just got to do this. You got to be all the way in. You got to be all the way in. Like how you're supposed to fight every tall fighter. You got to be all the way in. You got to be all the way out. When you're on the outside, you make them reach. You make them pay for it. You close. Don't stay middle distance at all. You close to get on the inside, and you force the longer arm guy to get in exchanges with you and just throw the shorter punches. Boom. On paper, that sounds great. Doing it in front of that guy though Is an entirely different thing Fundora is an absolute nightmare In every way possible
