Michael Jackson at Home Without Barriers Kaohsiung
by Zimmermann 054: Michael Jackson
The night before his HIStory World Tour stop at Chungcheng Stadium, Michael Jackson turned a Kaohsiung day into something warmer than a tour schedule usually allows. At Home Without Barriers he came in as guest and giver both, watching kids run through dance moves in his own style, then passing out toys and concert tickets. His handprint and signature went onto a canvas at the facility. Mayor Wu Den-yih sat down with him during the visit, and a plaque marking his artistic achievements came his way. The southern Taiwan show of the tour followed the next night. Thirty years on, that's the part that sticks with me, how a stadium date got bookended by something this personal.
