Jaymes Four Trader Archetypes bull owl elephant
by Freddenver: San Diego
The whole concept of trying to trade like everyone else or acting like a robot in the markets is something Jaymes completely disagrees with, and honestly it makes no sense given that every single person has different life circumstances. Take Jaymes himself, for instance: he's a 39-year-old male living in the suburbs of San Diego where life is expensive, and he brings a background in risk to the table, which means his reality isn't the same as yours. He points out that traders face totally different challenges when it comes to sizing up their positions; some people have to battle learning how to take more risk while others might actually need to battle taking too much risk because they have a huge safety net and no problem with volatility, so maybe they need to pull back a little bit instead. It all boils down to the fact that everybody has their own circumstances and their own tolerance to risk, plus the time they can allocate to the market and the people who are around them, so why would those people trade the same way? That doesn't make any sense to me at all, which is why Jaymes created this idea with the backing of these four archetypes. There are technically tens of potential archetypes out there, but if we were simplifying it down to the basics, he went with an animal spirit type approach featuring a bull, an owl, and an elephant to represent the Four Trader Archetypes.
