Emmanuel Macron addresses France riots
Seeing images of police officers and gendarmes injured sparks a question that refuses to leave: what is actually in the heads of those who harmed French institutions? Why burn the town hall in Limoges, damage the tourism office in Lyon, seize the town hall in Marseille, or attack the prefecture in Bordeaux? How could anyone come to this? There is no justification, no explanation, and no excuse for these actions. Tonight, all citizens feel anger and shame. Watching city streets ravaged like this is unbearable. Emmanuel Macron delivered a national address from France to condemn the behavior of certain French people. He congratulated law enforcement forces for standing strong and expressed support for injured officers and their families. Support was also offered to mayors and elected representatives facing the fallout. Shopkeepers, artisans, and traders dealing with violence won't be left alone; some tried defending their shops against criminals themselves. The government will provide answers. Tomorrow, the Prime Minister will chair a crisis meeting to mobilize support for everyone going through difficulties.
