Blind Ranking Metroidvanias

by 🔫 Not A Real Sugar: Castlevania

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night taking the top spot in a blind ranking of ten Metroidvanias feels right, especially since the picker comes back to it every year. The rest of the list runs from Hollow Knight at two, Super Metroid at three, Blasphemous at four, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown at five, Ori and the Will of the Wisps at six, Animal Well at seven, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night at eight, Hollow Knight: Silksong at nine, and Metroid Dread at ten. Genre legends and recent heavy hitters were both in the mix, and a few of those placements got a real reaction. Some picks probably won't land where you'd expect. Which Metroidvania holds your number one spot?
