Michael Jackson Fly Away BAD Special Edition
The version of 'Fly Away' most people know came out on the BAD Special Edition in 2001, paired with 'Streetwalker.' What's easy to miss is the path it took to get there: Michael wrote it during the BAD sessions, handed it off to Rebbie, and her 1998 recording carries his backing vocals underneath her lead. His own cut plays like a quiet, rising request, framing love as an ocean and insisting no distance too far, with the line 'just don't make me fly away' sitting at the center. Tender, exposed, and unmistakably his. All these years on, it still lands like something private that somehow ended up in everyone's hands.
