Migrant from Senegal on witches thrown from boats

    by Jolyon: Senegal

Good luck, Europe. That's the sign-off from Mhedi on a story that starts with a man from Senegal describing what happens on the boats out of Africa: accuse someone of being a WITCH, tie them up, send them into the sea. The tell, he says, is seeing fine at night but not in the afternoon. Starving people is another way it ends. Mhedi frames the whole thing as one more case in a run of violence grim enough that dozens died or went overboard in a single instance last year.
