So how easy or difficult was it to get into the head spaces of each of your characters? That's the genius of Austen. It's why her work continues to be explored is because what she was writing about was the human experience, you know, what it is to fall in love, what it is to feel heartbreak, what you learn about yourself, societal dynamics, sisterhood. And so there's always so much to mine within that material. And I think we all know a Marianne, we all know a Mrs. Jennings. We can recognize ourselves actually in all of the characters in various ways. Eleanor is a challenging character for many reasons, but I didn't feel like the period was what made her challenging. I think for me it was her, the ways in which she expresses herself, the fact that she really is full of passion, but she's restrained it, how that can then translate to an audience. Her restraint doesn't mean a lack of passion, but rather a kind of constant battle with it. I found that to be the challenge really because the script was so brilliant, and our costume in the world we were shooting on location, you know, actually stepping into that period felt really kind of seamless really.
