Based16z financial freedom critique
by Tufail: Polymarket
Based16z explains why chasing a number to retire is a never-ending trap “I think people have the wrong view of freedom in that way. Obviously money can be good. It depends how you define it for yourself but like you don't need to be trying to get to a number” “It's something I thought about at that time too, like long ago. Just you're never gonna get to the number first of all” “Some dude out there just ran up a hundred million dollars and they're like, ‘Oh man, I really gotta get to $1,000,000,000.’ There's no end to that kind of treadmill” “Obviously people living in economic scarcity makes everything harder and is challenging but like people I think mostly, except in some cases, have the ability to do what they should do anyway and so that would be the way I'd look at it”

No, no, this is such a dumb meme, dude. You could be like, there's this line from Office Space. This is a classic kind of 90s or maybe early 2000s movie. And the dude's like, let me think through what the line is. But it's like, he's like, man, I really wish I had a million dollars. And the guy's like, oh, man, so you could do what? And he's like, dude, so I could just sit around, not have to go to work. I wouldn't do anything. The other guy's like, man, my cousin's broke. He don't do shit. And I think people have the wrong view of freedom. in that way like obviously money can be good it depends how you define it yourself but like you don't need trying to get to a number it's something i thought about at that time too like long ago just you're never gonna get to the number first of all you know some dude like out there is just ran up 100 million dollars and like oh man i really got to get to a b you know there's no end to that kind of treadmill and be like you can i mean obviously people like living in in economic scarcity is makes everything harder and it's challenging but like people i think mostly except in some cases have have the ability to do what they should do in any way. And so that would be the way I look at it.
