Angie Nixon Cafe Resistance controversy

    by Flint: Angie Nixon

Florida Senate candidate Angie Nixon is facing a fierce backlash from Senator Ashley Moody over her business and political associations. The controversy centers on Cafe Resistance, the bookstore Nixon operates in Jacksonville, which features a wall displaying twelve Black Power figures. According to reports verified by the Washington Free Beacon, four of those individuals were convicted of killing law enforcement officers. One specific figure highlighted is Assata Shakur, who was convicted of murdering New Jersey State Trooper Werner Foerster back in 1973 before escaping prison and fleeing to Cuba. Nixon has been reported to quote Shakur at campaign events and refer to her as a famous freedom fighter. When confronted about the display, Nixon responded that many of the figures were set up and questioned why she couldn't have the wall displayed. Senator Ashley Moody, identifying herself as the wife of a law enforcement officer, slammed the situation as crazy and personal. She stated that if Democrats want to claim this is part of their big tent, most people think it's unacceptable what she's promoting. The source asserts that Democrats are pushing Nixon to represent Florida's law enforcement in the Senate, concluding with a direct call to vote against her candidacy.

Let me tell you about that big tent. My opponent quotes the Communist Manifesto and cop killers. She runs a bookstore called Cafe Resistance and has a shrine to people who have killed law enforcement. What? So if folks want to say that's part of their big tent, you know, folks need to know what they're actually putting out there, especially what my opponent is standing up for. I'm the wife of a law enforcement officer. Most people think that is crazy what they're espousing, what she's promoting. I think it's personal to me. And so I'm going to keep fighting day in, day out to make sure America knows what these people are all about. And we will never, never let communism or socialism take root, not just in the state of Florida, but in the rest of this country.
