Jimmy Kimmel announces William birth
by Freddenver: Jimmy Kimmel Live!
Jimmy Kimmel shared the story of his son William, whom he calls Billy, being born via an easy delivery that took just six pushes. The newborn initially seemed perfectly healthy and normal right after arriving, but the situation shifted dramatically about three hours later. A very attentive nurse noticed something wasn't quite right when she heard a heart murmur and saw the baby had turned a bit purple, which is definitely not common for new infants. She immediately asked Jimmy to come over, another nurse joined in, and they called a doctor because it started feeling serious as the room began filling up with more doctors and nurses. They figured out quickly that the infant wasn't getting enough oxygen into his blood, which Jimmy understood could mean either his lungs or his heart were the issue. An X-ray was done to check things out and ruled out any lung problems, pointing straight to the heart instead. A pediatric cardiologist was brought in to take a closer look at the situation, and that's when my son was diagnosed with pulmonary atresia. It was a terrifying few moments where our whole family was there in the recovery room, having just introduced him to his sister who looked cute with him before everything escalated.
