Gerard Butler Maverick wave story
Gerard Butler is talking about a moment on the Maverick set that he insists wasn't exaggerated. He's describing how a wave spread across the skyline, standing about 30 feet high, while the crew kept yelling for him to paddle. He was out there on his board when the water just swallowed him whole and ripped the leash right off so there was nothing left to pull himself up with. Once underwater, he got spun around and dragged straight over rocks. The panic set in because he kept thinking he needed to get up before the next one hit, which it did and the whole nightmare started over again. What made it even wilder was realizing there was a whole film crew watching all of this happen. Speaking on Howard Stern on SiriusXM, Butler said this might be one of the few times where reports aren't blown out of proportion since it was genuinely a close call.
