Tyrese Haliburton Facebook Marketplace habits

    by Freddenver: Tyrese Haliburton

Tyrese Haliburton admits he still checks Facebook Marketplace even though he doesn't post on it himself. He's got a whole system for avoiding impulse buys that would be financially irresponsible just because something catches his eye in the moment. His go-to for actual deals is eBay, which he calls one of the best websites in the world to be honest, but he has to cross-reference with local options on Facebook Marketplace. There was this specific time he met a seller at a Krispy Kreme parking lot to buy a turntable because he wasn't sending his partner out to meet strangers for transactions. He keeps his account active only so he can forward potential finds to his wife or brother, noting that his brother uses a different last name which makes communication way easier. The conversation happened during an episode of BOARDROOM Talks where he explained why he won't just buy things on sight.

I have done that before, yeah. Very recently, you bought a turntable on the Krispy Kreme Marketplace. I did, yeah, I met up with a dude at the parking lot of Krispy Kreme. Yeah, tell me about that. Sometimes, you know, I go on wherever I'm looking at, I see something, I'm like, oh, I want it, but that would be financially irresponsible for me to just buy it because I just saw it right there. Why don't we search for a deal? So we go on eBay. I love eBay. I love eBay. It might be one of the best websites in the world, to be honest. I go on eBay, but then I gotta check Facebook Marketplace just off the strength. I have to, because somebody local got it. Usually I won't do it. Like I'm not gonna go on, I still have Facebook, but I don't use, like I only, I gotta see what's going on at the crib. That's why I use Facebook for it, but I'm not posting or anything. But wifey, she might, you know, she posts like our wedding pictures on Facebook, fam like to see it and stuff. So I'm like, I see something on Facebook Marketplace, I'll send it to her, maybe I'll send it to my brother who doesn't have the same last name as me. So it'd be easy for him to, so he might, you know, hit them and then we can figure it out from there. So the turntables, wifey, before we had the same last name, message him. Then I just meet him at Krispy Kreme because I'm not going to send my girl to do that.
