Robert Garcia on Floyd Schofield Jr unification
Floyd Schofield Jr has the WBA lightweight strap, and Robert Garcia wants Golden Boy to pump the brakes before chasing a unification bout. Garcia gave Schofield credit for the win over Lucas Bahdi, though he saw that fight as tighter than one judge's card made it look. Talent is not the question for Garcia. The timing is. He figures Schofield would lose to the division's other titleholders right where his career stands. So which way does Golden Boy go? Push him toward unification, or let him develop a little longer first?

I think one judge had it really bad the way the scores were. I think the fight wasn't that far off. I think Schofield did win, but it was a lot closer than what that one judge had. But anyways, you know, I think the right man won. I think it's going to be a process of what his team wants to do with him. Does Golden Boy risk him and go into a bigger fight, unification fight? then they might push a little bit too fast. The team might say, no, let's take our time. You know, he just became champion, and I think that'd be the smartest thing to do. Take your time, you know, be patient, unless you don't want to go out there for the big payday and make a unification. I think at that level, I think any of the other champions beat him, but he'll still put up a good fight.
