Beth de Araújo on JOSEPHINE at LFF
by Murphy Popcorn 🎪: Beth de Araújo
Beth de Araújo brought the weight of JOSEPHINE to the London Film Festival, stressing how its relevance has held firm through every single stage of production. The film tackles a subject that lives in silence, where victims struggle even to say the word rape and are left to deal with their pain alone. It is an under-researched global epidemic that we haven't put resources into trying to understand or manage. #BethDeAraujo

Through every iteration of making this film, somehow it's felt relevant. Because this is a topic that lives in silence. People even have a hard time saying the word rape. And it's very under-researched. And because of this, people are just left to deal with their pain alone. And I wish I could say that, like, I think at any other time it would still be relevant because it's a global epidemic that we haven't put resources into trying to understand or manage.
