Tracy Chapman Fast Car 1988

by Felix P: Tracy Chapman

That feeling of moving forward without actually getting anywhere is the core of Fast Car. Released in 1988, Tracy Chapman's track uses a repeating guitar pattern that sounds like a car on an endless road. Her calm and understated vocal delivery frames a narrative where hope slowly turns into disappointment.
