WHIPLASH 12th anniversary

by Capucine · old hollywood: Damien Chazelle

WHIPLASH hit its 12th anniversary today, but the road to a full feature was rocky. Director Damien Chazelle couldn't get financing for the movie, so he made an 18-minute short with J.K. Simmons and Johnny Simmons instead. That short won an award at Sundance in 2013, which convinced investors to finally fund the complete film.
