Lai Ching-te laid out where Taiwan stands: peace is held in high regard, freedom won't be given up, exchanges are open, being belittled is not tolerated. The resolve goes further, authoritarianism can't be allowed to weaken democracy and fear can't be allowed to take freedom's place.
