NFT community culture vs speculation debate
Critics who never touched an NFT often claim the whole scene lacks culture and runs purely on speculation, yet that view misses the real history. Before the market cooled, late-night Clubhouse sessions turned strangers into genuine friends and introduced a wave of new collectors to the hobby. Many of those early participants are now major players in the Pokémon card market today, having used NFTs as their first entry point into collecting after earning money online. The financial success of trading amplified the emotional impact compared to childhood memories, even if no intellectual property will ever match the scale of Pokémon again. Current activity has dropped simply because the financial investment has receded, but historical participants are expected to return once interest resumes. Shoutout to the projects that stayed present through the quiet: pudgypenguins, cryptopunks, BoredApeYC, doginaldogs, moonbirds, Azuki, doodles, and token_works. NFTs have literally zero culture associated and only hold value due to speculation, creating a bubble. NFTs got a lot of people that would have never collected before into collecting. A lot of people that are actively spending a lot of money, even in the Pokemon hobby of collecting, started with NFTs. Yes, Pokemon was a time in history. It was like the anchor of most people's childhoods. But for a lot of people that made money online, that was NFTs for people who had money, right? Like that they got them into this world. And again, all these people that are saying this stuff, they weren't there they don't even know the cultural impact that took place they weren't in the clubhouse rooms they weren't in the communities they didn't see it i did you that stuff doesn't go away man i know you had a magical experience when you traded with your pokemon cable with your buddy and that was like a wow thing now imagine the wow thing when you're making a hundred grand right like it's a different thing and will it ever be as big as pokemon no i don't think an IP will ever, again, be as big as Pokemon, right? That's never what I'm arguing. If you're still into NFTs, you should definitely follow us because we talk about JPEGs more than we probably should.
