Gary Bencheghib river cleanup Indonesia
Gary Bencheghib's whole thing is pulling trash out of rivers. He finished one in Indonesia that people there had been calling among the cleanest around. Two weeks later it was full of garbage again. His read on it: the strategy is off, cleanups aren't the answer anymore. What's needed is big education campaigns with the government in the room, because the infrastructure just isn't there. And he's done cleaning unless that changes.

We have failed. Two weeks ago we cleaned this river and now the trash is back. This proves to us that our strategy is off. I think cleanups are no longer the solution. And we need to start massive education campaigns, but get the government involved. Because this river shows us that there's no infrastructure. So as long as we can keep this cleaning, we're not going anymore.
