Elythor Morpho inspection drone

    by Terrymiller: Science

Elythor came out of EPFL with Morpho, an inspection drone that flies on wind and adaptive wings, which is how it stays up longer. Vertical and horizontal flight both work on this thing. Offshore platforms, pipelines, turbines, power lines, power plants, that whole list is what it's meant to check out.

This is Morpho, a drone designed for power plant inspection. Designed and developed by Elethor, an EPFL spin-off company, this inspection drone uses wind to lengthen its flight time. Its wings can change its position independently, enabling the drone to fly vertically or horizontally. These features make it a perfect drone for inspecting power plants, high-voltage power lines, wind turbines, gas pipelines, and offshore oil platforms.
