Watch the ankles. James Brown's shuffle lived in the hips, but Michael relocated the entire engine six inches lower so the upper body could stay statue still while the floor burned underneath. MJ didn't copy the shuffle so much as edit it. The shift allowed his feet to move rapidly without disturbing the rest of his frame.
