Tennessee cancels executions after Pike botched
The governor just canceled every execution scheduled in Tennessee for this year after an investigation was ordered into what happened with Krista Pike. Outside Riverbend prison in Nashville, the evening gathering drew a crowd that a woman said felt different because it's a female being executed and no women have been put to death in the state in 200 years. The procedure started in the evening when officials administered two doses of pentobarbital, but her heart didn't stop and she kept snoring. Officials halted the process and moved Pike via ambulance. That hit different tbh.

This is much more highly attended. I have to think maybe what's different is that it's a female and that we haven't executed a female in Tennessee in 200 years. So perhaps that's what has drawn more attention to this one.
