Howard Lutnick on Trump's trade deals

    by Jolyon: Howard Lutnick

Lynn's take on Howard Lutnick: possibly the happiest guy in the Trump administration. His evidence is Lutnick's own line about having the best job, since it lets him sit and watch Donald J. Trump make the coolest deals he's ever seen, plus the follow-up that he has the best time doing it. There's also the Koreans meeting, which Lutnick calls the most extraordinary thing he's ever witnessed, and his stated pride in standing with the executives who'll actually execute the deals. Lynn's read: this sounds less like a Commerce Secretary and more like somebody who scored a backstage pass.

None of it, none of it could possibly happen without the structure of the trade deals we did and the dealmaker-in-chief of the United States of America who made the deal. And I had, look, I have the best job because I get to sit and watch Donald J. Trump make the coolest deals I've ever seen in my life. And I have the best time doing it. And when we sat with the Koreans, it was the most, it was the most extraordinary thing I've ever seen. And that produces today. So I am proud to be up here with these great executives. because these are the people who are gonna execute it, right?
