    THE BIG CHILL hit its 43rd anniversary today, but the film almost looked very different. Kevin Costner was originally cast to play Alex in flashback sequences that were actually filmed before being removed from the final cut. Director Lawrence Kasdan made the call to exclude Alex because he felt including the character would make the narrative too specific.
