Mark Zuckerberg Trump White House AI
by Lucid Arthur: Mark Zuckerberg
Americans are bracing for a future with AI after Mark Zuckerberg backed Trump and outlined an accord reached at the White House. Tech leaders drafted principles on internal controls and issue detection since one standard fits nothing. The framework layers audits from internal risk reviews to external evaluators, with boards independently checking reports. Zuckerberg called it a historic start rather than a final fix while explaining how confidence is built when companies build differently.

The basic idea is that we want to give the American people and our customers confidence that the technology works in the way that we intend. Right, so every company is building something that's a little bit different, you know, having one set of standards for what is what everyone should want to build. People want to do some different things, but I think what we can all agree on is that the American public and our customers want to know that what we're building is working in the way that we all intend. So we drafted a set of principles and commitments around building robust internal controls and detecting if there are any issues with the technology, coupled with multiple layers of auditing and controls, starting with internal risk review, external auditors and evaluators, and agreeing that we're going to have all of our boards of directors independently review the reports that come from the auditors. I think that these are good steps forward. The idea isn't that this is the only thing that we will ever do. It is that this is a start and an accord that the whole industry could come to and I was very proud to have that discussion with a number of our colleagues who I think are running great companies. It was sort of a historic conversation. I don't think anything like this has come before and I think this is a meaningful step forward.
