Kai Trump on college independence
Everyone says you're on your own but like you don't realize till you're actually on your own. Kai Trump admits she was always scared to go to college because she didn't expect the level of independence required until she was living it. In high school, teachers were the ones who would say okay, this and that, offering proactive guidance on specific tasks. With professors though, they just teach you and if you need extra help, you have to go and get them yourself. Her economics teacher gave her extra help for the E-con test today at 10, but that's not how it usually works since no one tells students when to wake up or go to class. The decision rests entirely on the student, and if a student does not attend, they are responsible for sending doctor notes or similar documentation. Getting extra help in college requires students to ask and be persistent rather than waiting for someone to set things up. It is a reality that hits different once you are actually there, even though Kai confirms she likes being independent.
