Quito has confirmed a first: U.S. troops physically entered houses during predawn raids in Ecuador rather than just offering briefings. The operation brought together roughly 50 personnel from SOUTHCOM and the DEA alongside over 320 Ecuadorian police officers to target a group connected to Mexico's Jalisco cartel. Dozens of people were taken into custody, including the alleged leader and the financial operator behind the scheme. Cocaine shipments originating from Colombian laboratories were stored in Ecuador before being designated as a Mexican cartel operation. This coordinated action involved three nations working simultaneously: Colombia, Ecuador, and Mexico.
