From Software has been doing a lot of strange things since they released Elden Ring. They've shipped a mech RPG, a really big DLC for Elden Ring, a multiplayer Elden Ring game, and we're on the cusp of seeing them release a Nintendo-exclusive multiplayer game. So instead of running a fourth or fifth character through Elden Ring as you await for a potential Elden Ring 2, I think you kinda owe it to yourself to at least check out a game that many, myself included, still hold in very high regard. Dark Souls has a magic to it that I believe FromSoftware has really not been able to rekindle since it was released. Lucky for you, Dark Souls is available on pretty much every platform that you likely have access to today. Whether you are running an original copy on the PlayStation 3 or the Xbox 360 or your PC, or more likely you have access to the fantastic remaster that was released in 2018 for the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One. There's even a very respectable port of the game that was released for the Nintendo Switch a few years back that is still a great way to play the game. Dark Souls is also one of the only FromSoftware games that you can consistently find on the cheap. Ever since they won Game of the Year for Sekiro Shadows Die Twice back in 2019, it's pretty rare to see the games they released since Sekiro dip below the $30 range. But Dark Souls Remastered you can typically find for under $20 on PC, on PlayStation, Xbox. As someone who played it for the first time this decade and really fell in love, I would say, depending on who you are, it's an even better game than some of From Software's latest releases.
