Human history breaks down into fourteen distinct periods, starting with the Paleolithic Age which spans from 2.5 million years ago to 10,000 BCE. The Mesolithic Age covers the period from 10,000 to 8000 BCE before the Neolithic Age occurred between 8000 and 3000 BCE. Moving forward, the Bronze Age is dated from 3300 to 1200 BCE, followed by the Iron Age taking place from 1200 to 500 BCE. The Classical Age ranges from 500 BCE to 500 CE, leading into the Medieval Age that lasted from 500 to 1500 CE. Cultural shifts define the Renaissance occurring during the 14th through 17th centuries alongside the Age of Discovery happening in the 15th through 17th centuries. Modern eras include the Industrial Age defined as occurring from 1760 to 1900 CE. Technology defines recent times: the Atomic Age began in 1945 and continues to the present, while the Space Age started in 1957 and continues to the present. The Information Age began around 1970 and continues to the present, just as the Digital Age started in 2000 and continues to the present.
