If you're looking at who built the biggest American tech giants from scratch, the map of where those founders came from is wild. India leads the pack by a massive margin with 96 foreign-born founders behind billion-dollar companies. Israel isn't far behind either, contributing 60 of these unicorn creators. The United Kingdom rounds out the top three with 47, while China sits in fourth place at 41. Canada follows with 30, and Russia brings up the rear of the top six with 23. France contributed 21, Germany added 18, and Ukraine produced 16. Australia has 14, and then it gets tighter with Pakistan and Romania both hitting 10. Brazil, Iran, and Lebanon each have 9. Italy, Poland, Nigeria, and Türkiye all sit at 7. Argentina comes in at 6. But the list doesn't stop there because New Zealand also has 6, and Taiwan matches that number too. Belarus, Bulgaria, Denmark, South Korea, and Spain are all tied at 5. Finland, Greece, Ireland, Mexico, Portugal, and Sweden each have 4. Jordan, Philippines, and Switzerland round out the top 37 countries with 3 apiece. This data covers the full ranking of nations by their output of foreign-born entrepreneurship in the US market.
