James Ingram is the reason the P.Y.T. everyone knows exists at all. Quincy Jones wanted a track with that Pretty Young Thing title, Michael Jackson came back with a slower after-hours groove, and Quincy pushed for more speed. Ingram then wrote a completely separate song that held onto the P.Y.T. name and turned into the Thriller single. Michael's own version stayed locked away until 2004. Hearing it without tenderoni or chant, just him singing like he's telling you a secret At 3 a.m., feels different. Same three letters, two entirely different moods, and honestly the one that got left in the vault still hits đ„ #MichaelJackson
