HasanAbi on unfair media dynamics

    by Silvestre: Hasan Piker

The media environment is unfair, we know that already, and the PR crisis management mentality suggests a different path entirely. If I had a publicist, they would advise against doing any interviews, even positive ones, due to the risk of being taken out of context. The logic dictates avoiding all interviews in general, not even positive ones because God forbid they take something I'm saying out of context and then use it against the Abdul race. It's not fair, but we don't live in a fair world, and some individuals are aggressively targeted in campaigns. For every critical reaction to his comments, approximately three people question whether the comments were wrong, which is important to remember. Hasan stated he likely would have been better off not conducting the interview with Axios, noting that journalists, including Alex Thompson of Axios, seek interviews designed to damage his reputation. He suggested it would have been preferable if he had not used the phrase 'pound for pound' during the discussion. Sometimes it's fine even if things are correct, perhaps not everyone can say them. Perhaps someone with a name like Hasan who is being aggressively slammed into the campaign of a guy who's named Abdul should not be saying those things regardless. He noted that even factually correct statements can be problematic depending on the speaker's identity and the political context involving an opponent named Abdul. He characterized himself as stubborn and hard-headed regarding his analysis and perspective, admitting he is too hard headed and too stubborn to a fault, especially when it comes to analysis and perspective. Every journalist in the media is looking for the interview that takes a person down, and considering that I've become public enemy number one, there are going to be more contentious interviews going forward. Alex Thompson came up to the mantle and he swung, but I don't think that it is as devastating as he thinks this is.
