Robert Garcia on Ryan Garcia vs Conor Benn
by Yamanaka: Ryan Garcia
Robert Garcia thought Ryan Garcia might gas out. Ryan came out of the first round moving constantly and firing fast jabs, and Robert's worry was that all that energy would cost him if the fight stretched into deep waters against Conor Benn. It didn't. Ryan handled business quickly, and that fast start told Robert the focus and hard training were there. The speed and power caught him off guard too, since Ryan can look a step slower some nights. Full of energy from the opening bell is a good sign. So was that the sharpest Ryan Garcia we've seen?

Look, one thing that I liked about Ryan is that he came in very confident, obviously. But when the first round started, he was actually full of energy. He was moving around and throwing a lot of fast jabs. Where I thought to myself, I said, man, he's starting a little bit faster than he normally does. So I was a little bit worried that if it goes late rounds, he might gas out because he was full of energy. but you know that that's a good preparation i'm pretty sure he was focused and trained hard because uh he started fast and and obviously took care of business pretty pretty fast too but uh but yeah i was i was impressed with ryan his speed his power you know his his boxing abilities he was actually moving like i said you know with a lot of energy and that that that's one thing that uh that uh i was a little bit surprised because you know he could be a little bit slower at times and this time he was full of energy which it's a good sign for him
