Doctors at Nasser Hospital in Gaza initially detected a heartbeat for Ayoub, the unborn son of Iman Shalouf, before confirming both had died from Israeli gunfire. The strike hit a shop in the Al-Mawasi area of Khan Yunis where Iman, who was seven months pregnant, was sitting when she was shot in the head. Her husband Sulaiman Abu Mashi told Drop Site collaborator Mohamed Ahmed that she had about two months and one week left until delivery. Medical staff stated the fetus could survive after the initial detection but the outcome was fatal.
