Benny Johnson rallies young Americans ahead of midterms

A year after Charlie Kirk died, Iowa City filled a room for a gathering. Benny Johnson, an alumnus of the place, showed up with a GOP gubernatorial candidate the day after the anniversary. Turning Point USA hosted a tailgate for roughly 80 people and framed it as a torch-passing ceremony. Kirk used to recruit conservative students into spaces that were previously disengaged. Those spaces are still active now with shirts honoring Kirk on display. The goal is to lock in support in November from Iowa voters and Congress.
