HiQ Real robot dual-arm upgrade

    by Terrymiller: Science

An Italian-made quadruped called HiQ Real just picked up a purpose-built dual-arm system. Operators run those arms from a pilot station, working a haptic device paired with a three-finger exoskeleton glove, and the real-time view comes through a 3D VR headset. The whole point: humans handle the risky work in nuclear facilities, chemical plants and disaster zones while staying out of harm's way.

Meet HiQ Real, an Italian-made quadruped robot designed to stand in for humans in hazardous areas like nuclear facilities, chemical plants, disaster zones, and more. HiQ Real received an update, a purpose-built dual-arm system. A human operator can control these arms from a pilot station using a haptic device paired with a three-finger exoskeleton glove. The robot's real-time view can be seen through a 3D VR headset. Thank you.
