Sophie Rain doesn't want kids, and the reason she gives first is postpartum depression. She also questions why anyone worries about birth rates when 8 billion people are already on Earth and food, water and poverty remain unsolved problems. Her preference? More people donating to those in need instead of more babies. In the clip she pushes back on the counter-movement around low birth rates, the one Elon Musk and others are associated with, and says it's been decades of her saying have fewer babies. Water is finite, she points out, and the Southwest is already running short. "Why do people care so much about the birth rate?" she asks, before adding, "There's already 8 billion people in the world."

This is going to sound so weird. I don't see the appeal in having kids. You birthed this thing out of you, and now your body's different for the rest of your life. Most of the time, they're probably going to be a shithead anyway. They're going to be a little kid, annoying, spitting up on it. Like, ah. You're saying everything I said 40 years ago. Yes. Like, I don't want to have to deal with that. Exactly. And more and more people feel that way. Yes. To the point now where there is a counter movement led by people like Elon Musk, but he's not the only one who are so, oh my God, they're upset that we're not having enough babies. I'm like, I've been saying for decades, have less babies. There's too many people here now. I was going to say, isn't this the most people there's ever been on Earth? Of course. Why are we freaking out about not having babies? And we don't have enough resources for them now. Water, finite. They do not seem to understand these geniuses of the world. what the word finite means. There's not... We're running out of water here, as it is now in the Southwest.
