Marco Rubio announces Western Hemisphere visits

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed a planned visit to Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru, nations where right-wing leaders are actively pursuing close cooperation with the United States. The official stated that this trip reflects a broader trend observed across the Western Hemisphere, noting that countries in the region are increasingly aligning with the United States and supporting American interests. He pointed out that if you review the National Security Strategy, it becomes clear that one of our priorities is strengthening the U.S. presence in the Western Hemisphere. Rubio specified that the three visited nations cooperate closely with the United States on shared interests, which include combating transnational criminal and terrorist groups in the region as well as developing economic cooperation. There is an expressed hope to conclude good, reliable trade agreements with each of these three countries in the near future. The visit serves as a concrete step toward solidifying these alignments, moving beyond observation into active diplomatic engagement with partners who share specific security and economic goals.

Why are you guys hiding under the wing? It was? Alright, let's go. We'll have plenty of time to talk later on on the trip. So this is an important trip, obviously. We're going to go visit three countries strongly aligned with the United States. We have a lot of common interests with them, both taking on regional transnational criminal terrorism and also economic engagements. We're hoping to wrap up good, solid trade deals with all three of these countries in the foreseeable future. and of course a lot of strong cultural links. So I think it's part of a trend that you're seeing in the Western Hemisphere of alignment with U.S. and U.S. interests. If you read our national security strategy, I'm sure all of you have read it very carefully, page by page, it outlines one of our priorities is strengthening our presence in the Western Hemisphere. And I think this trip and these meetings, as much as anything else, is continuing to further that goal as part of that strategy.
