Bacterial flagellar motor explained

Spin a tail at hundreds of revolutions per second and you've got a way to move. That's basically the setup inside bacteria, where a proton-powered nanomachine called the flagellar motor drives a flagellum like an outboard engine. The constant rotation is what lets these cells swim, tumble, and steer toward what they need.
