Scott Bessent at the G20 ASHEVILLE 2020 event is calling out Chinese anti-AI messaging as straight-up propaganda while insisting the US will become an AI superpower where all the benefits go to American citizens. He claims we're already ahead of China and plans to stay that way, noting that a huge chunk of the sites pushing back against AI buildout are clearly foreign actors, specifically from China. There's a lot of misinformation floating around and he says much of it is just Chinese agitprop being regurgitated. The real story is what's happening on the ground with small businesses because we're seeing AI result in a massive increase in startup activity. He expects a boom on Main Street among small businesses and says we're already witnessing it. The data backs this up too since global compute share has gone from 50% and by 2028 the US will be sitting at 80% compute.
