Trade negotiations between the U.S. and Canada fell apart roughly a week ago, leading Ontario Premier Doug Ford to send a sharp message to Donald Trump. Ford said you eventually have to stand up to someone who just continuously attacks our country and insults our country, adding that a tariff on Canada is nothing more than a tax on the American people. He pushed for a free trade agreement that will create more jobs, more opportunities on BOTH sides of the border while making it clear he has no intention to apologize for his stance. So I always say, Martha, a tariff on Canada is nothing more than a tax on American people. And it's probably the worst move you could ever do. But what we saw this week were insults flying on both sides. President Trump calling you a flunky, you calling Trump a loser, a dictator, a bully. Is that really the way to handle this? No, I think we got heated. I think it was pretty clear. I went on all the U.S. networks and, yeah, it got heated. But, you know, you've got to eventually stand up to someone that just continuously attacks our country and insults our country. We believe in Canadian sovereignty. And I know Americans believe in having a sovereign Canada as well. It's unfortunate that he stoops down to that level. And unfortunately, I did that day. But I just think that we need to focus on a free trade agreement that will create more jobs, more opportunities on both sides of the border.
