After Tony Stark starts suffering from intense headaches, he goes for medical tests. But the doctors discover something impossible. An Infinity Stone is growing inside Tony's brain. Before the Avengers can help him, the Maker, an evil version of Mr. Fantastic, captures Iron Man and straps him to a table in his lab. He plans to remove the stone and keep it for himself. Tony is still awake and in terrible pain. When he asks Reed why he's doing this, the Maker smiles and tells him a story. A dying planet once tried using the Infinity Gauntlet to stop a massive apocalypse. It failed. Now the Maker believes the same apocalypse is coming to their universe. His plan is to collect all six Infinity Stones and use them to stop it. Tony begs him to prove that the apocalypse is coming. Reed ignores him. He simply removes the part of Tony's brain that allows him to speak. Meanwhile, the Avengers rush to rescue Iron Man. But Captain America and Hawkeye are quickly captured by Kang the Conqueror. Thor also battles Hulk, only to be defeated and thrown into the same cell as Captain America. At the same time Invisible Woman and The Thing who are a couple in this reality try to break through the Maker defenses But Quicksilver stops them on Reed orders Back in the lab the Maker finally removes the Infinity Stone from Tony brain then he cuts off Tony's oxygen, planning to finish him. But Tony has one last trick. Seconds before his heart stops, he uploads his consciousness into the power grid. He then takes control of his Iron Man armor from a distance. The armor storms into the lab, attacks the Maker and frees the captured heroes. The Avengers regroup and prepare to take Reed down. But before the fight can begin, the ground shakes. A massive force field suddenly hits the heroes. That's when Kang reveals her true identity. She's actually a variant of Invisible Woman from another universe. The Maker smiles and calls Hulk and Quicksilver to his side. A huge battle erupts between the Avengers and the twisted variants, destroying everything around them. Eventually, the heroes win. The Maker is captured. Susan calmly asks why he did all of this. Reed gives the same calm answer. He saw what was coming. Then he reveals the terrifying truth. He detected a signal coming from deep space. It contained only one word. Hunger. And that could mean only one thing. The great devourer of worlds was coming. Galactus. Thank you.
