For The Dark Knight (2008), Nolan decided to excise a genuine kick aimed at the Joker's head during the interrogation sequence. His reasoning was straightforward: that specific action made Batman appear childish instead of intimidating. Since most of the physical interaction in this scene was actually real, Heath Ledger may have taken that kick for nothing.
