After the GOP primary concludes on Tuesday, he expects Governor Ron DeSantis to back his campaign for the general election in November. The announcement came during a live broadcast from Boca Raton, FL, where Donalds explained that the current governor has stayed out of the primary because he's been focused on leading Florida. While that approach was fine, Donalds made it clear they are anticipating his support for the stretch run this November. He brought up Virginia as a cautionary tale, noting that after electing Abigail Spanberger, she undid everything Glenn Youngkin did in the Commonwealth once she took office. That outcome is exactly what Republicans don't want to see happen again. Donalds emphasized that leaving nothing to chance and resting on laurels isn't an option. With $110M raised throughout the gubernatorial race, the campaign is ready to move forward if the governor joins them.

Honestly, I think the governor's been focused on leading Florida, and that's what his focus has been on. Obviously, he stayed out of his primary, and that's okay. But we anticipate having his support for the stretch run this November. Because at the end of the day, we don't want to be what happened to Virginia. In Virginia, they elected Abigail Spanberger, and the second she got elected, even though she campaigned like this big moderate, second she got elected, she undid everything that Glenn Youngkin did in the Commonwealth of Virginia. So I think Governor DeSantis and all Republicans in our state know that we can leave nothing to chance. We can't just rest on our laurels. I anticipate to have the governor's support, and we move forward.
