But here's the twist: when everyone's selling because prices are up, you're paying a premium to buy. Still, that's when sellers come out of the woodwork with pieces they normally wouldn't part with, so you might finally get your hands on something that was out of reach before. Buying really comes down to what you're chasing, whether you've got the capital, and if you're okay with a bit of a gamble on something you truly believe in. He's been able to grab a lot of stuff lately because people are selling, and he's happy to make those deals. For him, the network effect of the Pokemon community is the cherry on top, and he's built lifelong friendships just by shaking hands on trades.

Listen to me, for anyone who wants to sell collectibles, especially the high-end collectibles, timing. I cannot stress enough how important timing is if you want to liquidate your asset in collectibles. It is everything. And you have to wait and recognize that moment, which is also a skill. Why? Why now? You want to get liquid? It might not be the best time. And with buying, this is a little bit of a two-way street. So with buying, when the market is hot, everyone wants to sell because the market is hot. But if you buy, you're paying a premium because the market's hot. But since the sellers are now coming out of the woodwork with things they normally wouldn't sell, even though you paying a premium and you paying extra because the market hot you might be able to get things that previously were inaccessible And so it depends what you want it depends what you chasing and it depends if you have the capital at the time and are comfortable with taking maybe a bit of a gamble in what you purchase and if you believe really in the thing that you're buying. I was able to buy a lot of stuff currently now because people are selling, cause the market is like, they're gonna make a lot of money. And dude, good for them. I'm happy to do the deal with you. Pokemon is an amazing thing in that the transactions, both sides are often grateful. It's not like good deal, talk to you, never. I have lifelong relationships with some of these people that I've done these deals with who are now very good friends of mine because we shook our hand on a deal and got something done and like, yo, open line. What do you need from me? Oh, you want to be connected to this person? I got you. Hey, can you point me in the direction of someone who has this card? The network effect of Pokemon and collecting in the community is f***ing. It's beautiful. It's beautiful. It's such a cherry on top of what we all do.
