And Ben, you were actually inside the execution room for Jeremy Williams' death earlier this evening. Tell me, what was that like for you? The mood was very somber in that room. And in our particular case, we were in the room with what was presumably his family members. They're called condemned witnesses. There were three of them in the room along with the media members, five of us in the media in total. And the only sound that we heard, aside from words spoken from a microphone this evening, was a quiet sobbing, a crying from a woman on the front row. And her shirt read, one line on her shirt, a T-shirt, said that Mama loves you. So you can infer what you will from that. But it was a somber setting. And there was, as you'd imagine, the curtain opens, and there's Williams. He's already strapped to the gurney by the time we came into the room. Did he look over at you all? He did. He looked right at our window as the curtain opened, and that could be because it was the only curtain they opened at that time but also they may have told him hey your loved ones are through that window there in viewing room C we were in and he looked directly at us And so from that point forward it moved pretty quickly The death warrant was read by the execution team. They gave him a chance to say some final words as well. What was that statement that he said? Yeah, so he said when the microphone was placed in front of him by a member from the team, He said, I want to thank God for forgiving me for my sins so I can meet him in peace. And then he ended with good night. And we have reaction to that statement as well. The district attorney who prosecuted this case is Rick Chancey. Here are his thoughts about that statement. I hope he is able to have peace and have forgiveness. but it'll be a it'll take me dying to get over what I've seen so maybe one day I can have peace after what I've seen maybe he does now when you heard him there talk about Kamari Holland didn't get the chance to die in peace like Williams did tonight and had some very strong feelings about this
